Louisville, Kentucky is home to the famous Kentucky Derby and the Louisville Slugger baseball bat. Situated along the Ohio River, Louisville is the largest city in the state of Kentucky. Moms in the Louisville area will find that there are all sorts of entertaining activities nearby to keep their preschoolers active and happy.
1. The Zoo Louisville
The Zoo Louisville (louisvillezoo.org) is an ideal place to take your preschooler for a day of excitement. Your preschooler will be amazed at the bears found at Glacier Run, the aviary at Lorikeet Landing and the 4-acre Gorilla Forest. In addition to all of the amazing animals, moms can take their preschooler for a ride on the conservation carousel. During the summer, you can also visit Papa John's Splash Park to cool off with the water slides, jet launchers and dump buckets.
2. Louisville Science Center
Take your preschooler for a day of educational fun at the Louisville Science Center (kysciencecenter.org). This facility is packed full of interactive exhibits to engage your little one's hands, mind and imagination. In the KidZone, a special play area designed for kids 7 and younger, your preschooler can use his imagination to explore the amazing world of science. There is a Splash! water experience, a spaceship to explore the galaxy and a construction zone where kids can build whatever they can dream up.
3. Louisville Parks
Louisville has an incredible park system with 120 parks spanning more than 14,000-acres. Moms can take advantage of these parks for a day of outdoor fun with their preschooler. Many of the parks have playgrounds for children to run and play on. Beechmont Tot Lot has a playground ideal for younger children. You'll also find playgrounds at Willow Park, South Central Park and Klondike Park. During the hot, summer months, your preschooler will enjoy the spraygrounds at California Park, Farnsley Park, Waterfront Park and several other area parks.
4. All About Kids
All About Kids (allaboutkids.cc) is a state-of-the-art multi-sports center where moms can take their preschooler for all sorts of activities. The Inflatable Fun Zone features slides, tunnels, mazes and ball pits for your little one to play on. Open swim time is a perfect activity for you and your children to do together. There are also swim lessons available. Or, check out the preschool open gym to keep your preschooler active. This special time is just for preschoolers and gives them time to play in the tree houses, jump on the trampolines and enjoy the tumbling space.
