Blaine, part of the Minneapolis-Saint Paul, Minnesota metropolis, features an outstanding selection of indoor activities for little ones. If you're the mom of a toddler or preschooler, you know why this is important. Kids still need places to go for some fun on a cold or rainy day. From museums to dance classes, stay on the go despite the dreary weather.
1. Library Activities
Hop on over to the Anoka County Library (anoka.lib.mn.us) for some indoor fun. Not only can you borrow books to take home, you can also participate in some programs at the library. Attend special events like Make and Take Saturdays where your little cutie can create a work of art to take home, or Read to a Dog, where you and your little one can read a book to a trained service dog. You can also participate in some of the storytime programs. Family Storytime and Toddler Storytime includes stories, music and movement for the whole family. There are also special storytimes planned occasionally, like Let It Snow! Winter Storytime Fun and Winter Wonderland! Winter Storytime Fun, held in the winter months.
2. Museum or Indoor Playground
Visit the Golden Wings Flying Museum (goldenwingsmuseum.com) with your little man to check out the large collection of unique and antique aircraft. Inside a 45,000 square-foot hangar, you'll find NASA's first aircraft and the first plane the pope ever flew in. Your little guy will love attending one of the air shows! You could also head on over to Chuck E. Cheese's (chuckecheese.com) for some excitement. At this indoor play facility, you can let your little one play safely without worry. He can play games, crawl through tunnels and enjoy some entertainment. While you're there, grab some pizza so you don't have to cook when you get home. Score for mom!
3. Sports Activities
Let your little tyke use up some of that endless energy with an indoor sporting activity. The City of Blaine Parks Department offers engaging sports programs for kiddos. Amazing Athletes for your preschooler teaches the fundamentals and mechanics of nine various sports, where your little one can learn about teamwork and build up his self-confidence. If your kiddo is interested in giving Taekwondo a try, you could sign him up for a class at KTA (ktamn.com). He could try it for free, with a complementary private lesson. If he loves it, he can continue with lessons.
4. Dance or Gymnastics
Maybe your princess is more into dance or gymnastics? You could sign her up for The Wee Force, Tiny Force or Mini Force dance team at The Dance Studio (thedancestudiodancers.com). Or, choose from one of many dance classes offered through the City of Blaine Parks Department, such as Dance for 2 1/2- to 3-year-olds or 4- to 5-year-olds, or Little Hip Hopper just for 5-year-olds. Your toddler or preschooler can also participate in the Winnie the Pooh musical theater class, with singing, dancing and games.
5. Music or Art Activities
Maybe your sweetie pie is more into music and arts? The City of Blaine Parks Department offers a variety of music and art classes. Attend one of the Arts and Crafts Workshops with your toddler or preschooler, where she can let her inner Picasso shine through as she creates her own works of art. Music Together (musictogetherclasses.com) is an engaging children's music class where your toddler or preschooler can sing, dance and experiment with some musical instruments.
