Women love a good high heel and timeless slingbacks are as popular now as ever. Characterized by an open back and a single strap around the heel, this classic shoe can be styled in a variety of chic and trendy ways. Whether your outfit of choice includes a sweet dress or a sophisticated pant suit, a peep-toe slingback pump is a safe bet to carry you through the day in elegant style.

1. Dresses

A feminine dress pairs beautifully with high-heeled slingbacks. Whether your dress of choice is a sophisticated sheath or a flirty bandage mini, a pair of peep-toe slingbacks will draw attention to great gams and a fresh pedicure. When rocking your frock and slingbacks, avoid wearing tights. While tights might seem like the perfect solution to ward away the chill, they simply do not look as stylish with this style of shoe.

2. Pant Suits

A sleek and sophisticated pant suit is an ideal pairing for a polished slingback pump. Invest in a few neutral pairs to keep your outfits both versatile and stylish. A bright-colored pant suit in fuchsia or cobalt will pair fabulously with a black or nude slingbacks. Similarly, if your closet is full of neutral-colored pant suits in ivories and blacks, stock up on a few pop-of-color pumps to add interest to your look. High or low slingbacks both look equally appropriate with pants, so choose the heel height that best fits the occasion -- and your hem length.

3. Skirts

Sleek, form-fitting pencil skirts combined with black-patent slingbacks is a sultry combination that's sure to turn heads. A-line and flouncy pleated skirts are also matched well with this versatile footwear. When choosing a slingback peep-toe to go with your skirt, opt for something bold and bright to make a style statement. There are a wide variety of flirty styles that contain feminine details like ruffles, embellishments and bows. Choose one that matches the formality of the occasion for an outfit that's totally classy and put-together.

4. Shorts

When the temperatures soar, try combining a floral slingback wedge heel with a pair of denim shorts and a pastel or ivory blouse. Or, opt for a pair of silk shorts in a neutral shade with a bright slingback -- think hot pink or tangerine. Leather shorts are a trendy garment that can be worn during summer or fall, so pair yours with a plain black peep-toe slingback and a slouchy white tee for a look that's cool, edgy and fashion forward.
